AWAKE and AMAZED

Awake and Amazed was an installation which Rod Love created in late January 2022. It was in place for one year, housed in the cabin he built. It contained paintings from multiple periods of his artwork, along with many of his gemstone necklaces plus many other objects and media he created. Facing the woods and the mountains, It lit up like a beacon during the hours of 5:55 to 11:11PM nightly, powered entirely by solar energy. It was literally “Powered by The Light.” It featured video screens which introduced the exhibit and its mission, along with time lapse videos showing the creation of some pieces.

It happened spontaneously at a point when his decision to decline the Covid-19 vaccine meant that he had to leave Easton Mountain Retreat Center temporarily. The exhibit was intended to “be his presence” at Easton Mountain during his absence. During the year, hundreds of people visited and many of them commented about the exhibit. Some expressed that this exhibit was profoundly moving for them. Rod felt that even one person experiencing it deeply made all of the challenges and difficulties of that year worthwhile.
